Tour du Val de Bagnes, 4-day hut-to-hut trek
This challenging hut trek in Wallis includes a large reservoir, mountain lakes and a glacier. The landscape is wild and imposing, surrounded as it is by three thousand and four thousand metre peaks such as the Grand Combin, with a height of 4314 metres.
Day 1 Starts off relaxed; a 3 to 4-hour walk to the Cabane de Chanrion.
This attractive, recently renovated hut is situated at a location regularly visited by ibex, as the dusk falls. For the ultimate morning waking ritual, take a dip in the nearby lake Chanrion.
Day 2 With a hike of at least 8 hours, is the most demanding day. We will head for the Grand Combin, and spend the night in a cabin in a very spectacular location. The Cabane FXB Panossière is situated right on the Corbassière glacier.
Day 3 Offers a choice of 2 routes; the first takes us across a low suspension bridge while the second travels via a col that is not to be attempted if you suffer from fear of heights. En route, we can make a short stop-off at another mountain hut, for coffee and blueberry pie. From there, the route will take us a further 3 hours to our final hut: de Cabane de Mille.
The final day starts with a short climb to the Mont Brûlé, followed by only downhill walking, ending in Le Châble.
Since we will be covering long distances with considerable ascents and descents, along sometimes narrow pathways, you will need to be fit and sure-footed.
- Total distance: 52 km.
- 3297 m. ascent
- 4407 m. descent
