Welcome to Mountful Hikes

Our team is small, international, and deeply connected to the mountains. We believe in moving at a natural pace, creating space to breathe, and guiding people in a calm, quiet way that lets the landscape speak for itself.

Safety, simplicity, curiosity and enjoyment are at the heart of everything we do.

Famke: Founder & International Mountain Leader

I grew up in the Netherlands, but my heart always lived in the mountains. After many years of skiing, hiking and moving between winter and summer seasons, I completed the International Mountain Leader training in Switzerland in 2018.

Since then, I’ve been guiding guests from all over the world on hikes, snowshoe trips and multi-day treks in the Alps.

Christel : International Mountain Leader

Christel grew up in the Netherlands, but her heart has always belonged outdoors. As a child she preferred sleeping in a tent in the garden all summer long, and that sense of freedom never left her. After early seasons in Austria and France, she moved to Scotland where the raw beauty of the Highlands shaped her love for wild and quiet places. There she trained as a Summer and Winter Mountain Leader, and worked as a hiking, skiing, climbing, rafting and canyoning guide.

Since 2016 Christel has called Verbier home. She guides in every season and speaks several languages, although she is always learning a new one. Friends call her The Butterfly because she seems to float from one adventure to the next. One day she skis, the next she hikes, climbs or goes out on her bike. What she loves most is sharing the mountains with others and helping people feel grounded, calm and connected to nature.

For her, the mountains are a place to breathe, to reset and to feel small in the best possible way. She looks forward to welcoming you into her world.

Sandy: International Mountain Leader & Ski Instructor

Sandy was born in the UK but has lived in Switzerland since 2010. Winter is his favourite season, when he teaches skiing and guides snowshoe trips. In summer he switches to trail running and hiking, exploring the quieter corners of the Alps. He lives with his wife Emma, who is Swedish, their two young daughters and their Lagotto dog Kima, so their home is as international as the mountains around them.

What Sandy enjoys most is the simplicity of being outside. Whether he is out on his own, with friends or on a family adventure, he loves the feeling of moving through the landscape at an easy pace. Guiding gives him the chance to share that sense of freedom with others and to help guests discover places they might not find on their own.

Switzerland has become his home and the mountains his constant invitation to slow down, look around and enjoy the moment.

Woody: Trail Companion

My Golden Retriever with a big heart and an even bigger curiosity. Woody joins many of our hikes, loves meeting new people and dogs and can spot a mountain lake from hundred metres away. Gentle, cheerful and always up for an adventure, he is as much a part of Mountful Hikes as the mountains themselves.
