Tour des Muverans
4-Day Hut-to-Hut Hike in Valais & Vaud, Switzerland
Four days circling two mountains that don’t get talked about enough. Alpine pastures, rocky cols, cold lakes for the brave — and a different hut, with a different table, every night.
Far from the crowds. Closer to the mountains than you’ve been in a while.
Trip highlights
- A full loop around the Petit and Grand Muveran, changing character every day
- Huts that cook with what grows around them — the vegetable patch, the neighbour’s cow
- A shower on night two, alpine lakes for everyone else
- A final soak in the thermal baths of Lavey-les-Bains, just down the road from Ovronnaz
- Big views without the crowds of the nearby Diablerets

- Enjoy long days in the mountains
- Are comfortable hiking 5–6 hours per day

Programme
Day 1 — Jorasse → Dorbon (~5 hrs)
We ride up to Jorasse and set off counter-clockwise, into pastures dotted with alpine huts. The day ends at Dorbon, a farm with its own garden, its own animals, and a table that shows it — a big salad, fresh cheese, crêpes to finish.
Day 2 — Dorbon → Pont de Nant (~6 hrs)
The longest day of the tour, over the Col de la Forcla and its unforgiving field of boulders, a snowfield that often lasts into summer, and down through larch forest to Pont de Nant. Dinner here is cuisine nature — rösti with whatever mushrooms the season has offered up.
Day 3 — Pont de Nant → La Tourche (~5.5 hrs)
A steep, stony climb to the Col des Perris Blancs brings the Petit and Grand Muveran fully into view. Cabane de la Tourche, perched above the valley, looks out over both the Mont Blanc massif and Lake Geneva.
Day 4 — La Tourche → Jorasse (~6 hrs)
A narrow ridge path, secured with cable where needed, before the descent back to Jorasse and Ovronnaz. For those not quite ready to go home, the thermal baths of Lavey-les-Bains are a short trip away — a last soak instead of a last shower.
Hiking times are approximate and may vary depending on weather and group pace.
Last summer, Famke took me on a trek of discovery. My first steps in the mountains followed the Tour des Muverans. It was a magnificent trek with a different landscape every day, and Famke guided me along the most beautiful paths and to the best huts. With a combination of knowledge, wisdom, and humour, she taught me the basics of being in the mountains.
It was wonderful! Thank you, Fam, I’m already planning my next trip!
